If you follow us on IG then you may have watched our stories during the process of this gorgeous nightstand makeover. I happened to find this one in decent shape; a few knobs were missing and it needed some cleaning. A little fresh white paint does a country farmhouse room a lotta’ good. I enjoy painting a lot of pieces I find white. Because a lot of people who purchase furniture are looking for that style.
Not a whole lot of sanding was needed before I started painting this. I tend to dive right in when I start a project just to see how well the piece adapts to the paint. I used what I thought was Ultra White by Valspar but when I went to get more sample jars the guy at the counter told me it was just their base paint, so I have no idea if the gal who sold me the previous ones thought they were the same or not. In either case, this worked well because it gives it a whitewash look!
I had to apply three coats which is more than usual. I think I’m going to play with chalk paint next time. This is what I use because I’m so familiar with the paint (it’s kind of hard for me to break old habits but i need to try new things).
Apparently Jack Likes This Room The Most
I chose two different knobs for the top drawer to give it a unique look. Doug actually likes the before better but what does he know, LOL.
I love it. I wouldn’t mind keeping it for a while. Do you like when people paint solid wood furniture. Chime in. XO
