We don’t have a ton of dishes but for some odd reason I’m running the dishwasher often, and so that means that the unit itself needs to be cleaned at least monthly. I’m really good at keeping the food disposal cleaned because I dislike nasty food odors. Who’s with me? I just refuse to have those smells lingering around my kitchen. If you have larger families then perhaps a bi-weekly clean like this will keep your appliances much newer and much cleaner on the inside. Not to mention, the kitchen will smell fresh! Score.
If you’re here because you want to learn how to load the dishes faster and more effectively, stay tuned ( I talk about that later in the post!!! )
The Sassy Way To Clean The Dishwasher
First things first- make sure the dishwasher is completely empty. That means removing any food particles and/or debris from the base and anywhere else in the unit.
Next- wipe the interior door with a microfiber cloth to remove any tough spots/stains. If you’re lazy like me, just skip and it’ll probably be just fine with the same outcome.
Now you can go ahead and pour one cap of oxygen boost into the main cup dispenser and close it.
I also pour about a quarter cup into the open cup because I like to use a lot of product ( I’m a little weird like that ).
Run the cycle on hot and allow to fully process the load before opening. I sometimes let it air dry but that’s totally up to you. This is a one step process to getting your dishwasher cleaned. I don’t use vinegar because I can’t stand the smell and oxygen boost works way better than baking soda.
I like to do this monthly but if you are running the dishwasher a ton (especially throughout the holidays), I would even toss some in there with your Cascade.
Looking for a faster, more efficient way to load the dishwasher with your dirty dishes? You’ve come to the right place. I’m almost as organized as my closets when it comes to loading the dishwasher! It’s just a part of being SASSY, eh?!
- place all of your dinner plates on the bottom facing inward after you’ve lightly rinsed them off ( don’t rinse all the food off the plate )
- all cups and glasses go on top – place like dishes with like dishes
- put all the silverware in downwards ( some people do upwards, i don’t ) + keep knives, forks and spoons together- don’t mix them ( face the dirtier ones upwards )
- lay the spatulas flat on the top shelf in the middle
- place small bowls up top and larger ones on the bottom
- never overload the dishwasher
My pot and pan ‘messy’ clean up is really very simple with no scrubbing; if you need to remove harsh food stains off of your dishes: ( for burnt stains, leave it soaking overnight )
